DESCRIPTION:Please join us in welcoming back Dr. Christy Wisuthseriwong as our guest musician. Dr. Wisuthseriwong was the PCC Music Director from 2008 – 2015\, during which time she was our pianist\, organist\, director of our adult and children’s choirs\, and began and directed our handbell choir. \nDr. Christy Wisuthseriwong is an active pianist and collaborator in the Triad. She is a faculty member at The Music Academy of North Carolina in Greensboro\, teaching piano to students of all ages and levels since 2006. In addition to playing for Bel Canto Company\, she also accompanies the Community Women’s Choir of Greensboro and works as a staff accompanist at Elon University. She received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance and pedagogy at Meredith College in Raleigh. She studied Collaborative Piano at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro\, where she earned her Master of Music in 2001 and Doctor of Musical Arts in 2011. \nChristy performs chamber music recitals at various schools and churches around the country. In addition\, she has taught at Guilford College. She has been an accompanist for the American Singers’ Opera Project at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem\, the Greensboro Opera Company chorus\, UNCG Opera Theatre\, NC-NATS auditions\, and Community Theatre of Greensboro. \nInternationally\, Christy attended the opera performance and language study program Oberlin in Italy in 2001 and the University of Miami Frost School of Music German lieder program for singers and pianists in Salzburg\, Austria in 2007. In addition\, Dr. Wisuthseriwong is a North Carolina Music Teachers’ Association member and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.

SUMMARY:WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY
DESCRIPTION:The first Sunday in October is designated as World Communion Sunday\, which celebrates our oneness in Christ with all our brothers and sisters around the world.  Paul tells us that we are to “discern the body” when we partake of Holy Communion\, mindful that we note our relationship to all our brothers and sisters in Christ in the celebration.  One is not to go hungry while another is drunk! (I Cor. 11:21).  This is scandalous behavior as opposed to the Way of Christ.  Thus it is appropriate that World Communion Sunday is also a time when we receive the annual Peace and Global Witness Offering as a way of continuing the ancient Christian practice of sharing what we have with brothers and sisters in need.
